Holland? Or The Netherlands?

Confused? You're not alone. The terms "The Netherlands" and "Holland" are often used interchangeably, but they carry distinct meanings. The Netherlands is the official name of the country as a whole, comprising 12 provinces with a rich variety in landscape, culture, and history.

Holland, on the other hand, specifically refers to two of these twelve provinces: North Holland and South Holland. These provinces are among the wealthiest and most densely populated areas in The Netherlands, known for their urban landscapes and significant cities.

Amsterdam, the capital of The Netherlands located in North Holland, is famed for its canals, historic buildings, and cultural institutions. Rotterdam, part of South Holland, stands out for its modern architecture and status as one of the world's busiest ports. The Hague, also in South Holland, is the seat of the Dutch government and the royal palace.

These cities and their surroundings form the core of the Dutch economy, concentrating trade, industry, and cultural activities. This region has also played a significant role in international trade and diplomacy, partly explaining why Holland is often mistakenly used as a synonym for the entirety of The Netherlands.

Own Offices and Refrigeration Terminal

In the heart of this bustling area, you'll find our subsidiary, Angvik Auto Holland BV. Located strategically in Maasdijk, just outside Rotterdam, we have operated our own office and refrigeration terminal since 2012, staffed by dedicated experts in their field. The terminal has evolved into a crucial hub for the coordination and consolidation of goods from countries such as Spain, France, Belgium, and Germany. From here, goods are organized and combined with other refrigerated items, prepared for consolidated transport towards Norway.

All our Dutch trailers are equipped with dual temperature zones, GPS tracking, and experienced drivers. They are well-prepared and equipped for driving in Norwegian conditions in both summer and winter.

Frequent Departures and Rapid Delivery

In addition to its significant domestic production of fruits and vegetables, the Netherlands is one of Europe's largest importers of fruit from South America. Much of this fruit is further distributed to other countries, including Norway. Buying a mango, pineapple, or avocado in a Norwegian store likely passes through the Netherlands first. There's also a good chance it arrived aboard one of our vehicles in Norway.

Our trucks set off for Norway daily, loaded with fresh produce such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, various salads, all kinds of berries, Dutch cheeses like Gouda, Edam, and Maasdammer, and many other delightful products exported to Norway.

Between 30 and 40 hours after departing from the Netherlands, we directly deliver the goods to our customers in the Oslo area. If desired, we often arrange further transportation to other locations in Norway.

Just ask us, and we'll find a solution!
